What is a Mean Teachers E-Mail Address
I already have an e-mail address. Why should I pay $10 per year more to use MeanTeachers?
Besides the obvious – so that you can proudly announce to the world that you are a “mean teacher”, a MeanTeachers.Com e-mail address has many advantages over your school e-mail address. It’s permanent – not dependent on where you work or who provides your internet service, and it’s more secure. Your e-mail will never go through your school system’s servers – meaning you do not have to fear that your privacy may be invaded. you registered?

Why is this more private and secure than my school e-mail account?
Every e-mail letter you send or receive from your school account, even if accessed from outside the school, must go through your school’s network server. Anyone who has administrative access to the server can read all your incoming and outgoing mail. You’ll never know and there is no way to prevent it. But if you send and receive mail from a MeanTeachers.Com account, it completely bypasses your school’s server, assuring your privacy.

How to Use MeanTeachers.Com
Do I need to change my Internet Service Provider?
All No – MeanTeachers.Com is strictly an E-Mail address and management service. You will continue using your current internet service.

Can I use this on a MAC?
MeanTeachers.Com can be used on any system – all that you need is an Internet connection.

Can I access my mail over the web?
Yes – MeanTeachers has Web Mail implemented. You may access you e-mail from any computer in the world. Simply open up your favorite web browser and type in the address meanteachers.com/mail.

How do I set it up?
You will be provided with detailed instructions when you purchase your address. There are several options you may choose from. You may configure most e-mail programs to use your MeanTeachers.Com address, you may have all of your MeanTeachers mail automatically forwarded to any other e-mail address you like, or you may just use the web mail (not available if you have your mail forwarded to another address).

Can I have my MeanTeachers.Com mail forwarded to another address?
Yes – you may set up (or change) your MeanTeachers account to have all mail automatically forwarded to another address. Doing so, however, will prevent you from being able to access your MeanTeachers mail via Web Mail.

Can I set up an auto responder?
Yes – if, for example, you want to have all e-mail automatically answered with a message saying you are on vacation, we’ll create that for you. You can set one up from the Support Desk available in the Members Only area. It will automatically answer all mail with your pre-determined personal message until you  turn it off. There is an additional $5  fee to enable your auto responder after which you will be able to turn it on or off whenever you like.
